On Hope

March 15, 2026 · 1 min read

Hope is not optimism. It is the decision to act as though the future matters — even when the present is difficult.

Optimism is a feeling. It comes and goes with the weather and the headlines. Hope is a stance. It is the choice you make on the worst Tuesday of the worst year, to plant the seed anyway, to send the kind email anyway, to show up for the meeting anyway.

Optimists feel good when things look good. The hopeful do good when things look bad.

This is the difference, and it is not a small one. It is the difference between watching history happen and helping write it.
